Bar Run Golf and RV Resort Blends Recreation, Nature, and Community in Southern Oregon

Nestled in the rolling hills of southern Oregon, Bar Run Golf and RV Resort offers a unique blend of golf, RV accommodations, and water amenities designed to appeal to families, golfers, and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

In an exclusive interview with Modern Campground, co-owner Kelly Guido described the property as “authentic” and rooted in both the land and its history, setting it apart from other destinations in the Northwest.

“What truly sets Bar Run apart is the authenticity of both the land and the experience,” Guido said. He emphasized that the resort’s philosophy centers on creating “memorable experiences that become traditions for guests and their families,” a vision that is reflected in every aspect of the property.

Bar Run occupies a site that was once an active gravel mine. Guido explained that the resort’s history as a reclamation project informs its design, combining natural landscapes with thoughtfully placed amenities. “Our story is deeply rooted in the land itself,” Guido said.

The golf course features distinctive elements, including the 6th hole, nicknamed “The Wall,” modeled after a famous hole at North Berwick Golf Club in Scotland.

Guido described it as “a memorable playing experience that guests talk about long after their round.” Alongside the course, the resort’s pool and lazy river complex serve as central gathering spots, appealing to families and non-golfing guests.

Bar Run’s guest base remains diverse. Guido explained that the resort attracts RV travelers who may not golf, golfers who do not travel in RVs, and others who combine both activities.

Families and non-golfers often gravitate to the pool and lazy river, while golfers enjoy the 18-hole Dan Hixson-designed course.

“We take time to try to meet and greet our guests and find ways to make their time with us memorable,” Guido said. He emphasized that the resort’s layout allows visitors to “choose their own pace,” whether seeking a full day of activities or a more relaxed experience.

Balancing Guest Experiences with Sustainability and Amenities

Sustainability remains central to Bar Run’s operations. Guido highlighted the resort’s use of reclaimed materials throughout construction, as well as recycling and energy conservation initiatives.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to protect the land associated with Bar Run,” Guido said, pointing to the property’s origins as a reclaimed industrial floodplain.

Balancing development with the natural landscape remains a priority. Guido explained that sustainable practices guide the placement of amenities like the lazy river and golf course, ensuring that the property honors the land it shares with visitors. “The land is our core asset,” he told Modern Campground.

When asked about incorporating AI into operations, Guido noted that Bar Run has not yet deployed technology in guest services. “We want to maintain our personal and genuine approach to hospitality,” Guido said, adding that the resort will consider AI tools when they can enhance, rather than replace, human interaction.

Expansions and Plans Shape Bar Run’s Unique Appeal

Looking ahead, the resort has plans for expansion this year. Guido shared that eight additional RV sites will be added, along with the opening of The Nest, an adult-only experience offering views of Bar Run while enjoying food and beverages.

Bar Run’s long-term vision includes a new clubhouse with a bar and restaurant, a permanent golf shop structure, and additional amenities such as pickleball courts and a dog park. Technology will also be introduced to streamline guest purchases, allowing charges to flow directly to RV site accounts.

The resort’s RV accommodations include 66 full-amenity spaces, with select sites located adjacent to the 18th fairway and green. Each site offers concrete level pads, water access, and full 30/50 amp hook-ups. Dogs are welcome, and nightly rates start at $85, depending on the season.

For guests seeking more traditional lodging, six cottages sit along the golf course, each featuring modern kitchens, cozy beds, and spacious porches. The cottages sleep two to six people and provide tranquil views between rounds of golf or outdoor adventures.

Bar Run’s on-site amenities include a snack shack, community fire pit, wi-fi, and laundry facilities. They also opened a new food and beverage outlet near the swimming complex and lazy river during peak season.

Beyond the resort, Roseburg offers a variety of outdoor activities. Guests can explore the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway, kayak the Umpqua River, bike trails through forests and waterfalls, or enjoy the Great Umpqua Food Trail. Bar Run’s location provides convenient access to local wineries, the Oregon Coast, Crater Lake, and cities such as Eugene, Medford, and Portland.

With its combination of recreation, sustainability, and community focus, Bar Run Golf and RV Resort continues to evolve while maintaining its Northwest charm.

Guido summed up the resort’s approach succinctly: “Come to Bar Run and escape to your Unearthed Adventure.”
