The RV Industry Association‘s (RVIA) October 2024 survey of manufacturers revealed a total of 30,595 RV shipments, marking a 7.8% increase compared to the 28,371 units shipped during the same month in 2023.
“This latest shipment report shows that overall, the RV industry continues to make moderate, steady gains, and we are on track to surpass last year’s shipment totals,” RVIA and CEO Craig Kirby said in a News and Insights report of RVIA.
Kirby also emphasized the enduring popularity of RVing, with 21 million Americans expected to embark on RV trips during the holiday season. “As we head into the holidays, it is encouraging to see RVing remains a popular travel option, with 21 million Americans expected to go RVing this holiday season and share the joys of time together with family and friends,” he said.
Towable RVs, particularly conventional travel trailers, led the growth with a 11.8% increase, totaling 27,766 shipments for October. In contrast, motorhome shipments declined by 20.2%, with 2,829 units shipped during the same period.
Meanwhile, park model RVs saw a 19.7% decrease, with only 346 units shipped in October compared to last year. The report also highlighted that RV shipments to date have risen by 7.7%, reaching 287,007 units through October.
September’s RV Shipments
In September, the RVIA reported total RV shipments of 24,595 units, marking a slight 0.4% decline from the 24,700 units shipped in the same month last year. Despite this marginal drop, the industry is showing steady progress, with year-to-date shipments reaching 256,412 units—a 7.7% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Towable RVs, driven by conventional travel trailers, saw a 4.2% rise from September 2023, with 22,279 units shipped. Motorhome shipments, however, fell 30.1%, totaling 2,316 units. Additionally, park model RVs experienced a 12% decrease, ending the month with 294 units shipped.
