Webster Park Honors Former Campground Manager with Memorial Garden

As the camping season commences at Webster Park, visitors will be greeted with a touching tribute to the campground’s former manager. Delores “Dee” Lanzalaco, who passed away last year, had been a dedicated Monroe County Parks employee for 32 years.

In honor of her memory, a new garden has been established across from the campground entrance. The 15-by-15-foot garden features a variety of flowers, including lilacs, spirea, and potentilla, and is adorned with a memorial bench and plaque to commemorate Lanzalaco’s lasting impact on the park.

Monroe County Executive Adam Bello declared Monday “Dee Lanzalaco Day”.

“Dee Lanzalaco touched the lives of many families in Monroe County with her love for children, her love for Monroe County Parks, and her love of nature,” said Bello.

This new garden at Webster Park honors Dee’s legacy and the more than three decades she dedicated to caring for our campground. May 1, 2023, will now and forever be Dee Lanzalaco Day in Monroe County.”

Public camping season at Webster Park will run through October 31st. Alongside this, youth organizations can make camping reservations at Greece Canal, Mendon Ponds, Northampton, and Webster parks by calling (585) 872-5326.

This tribute to Lanzalaco’s dedication highlights the importance of campground managers and their role in maintaining and enhancing the camping experience for visitors. Private campground owners and operators can take inspiration from Lanzalaco’s legacy, striving to create a welcoming and nurturing environment at their own facilities.

In recent years, the camping industry has witnessed a steady increase in popularity, making the roles of campground managers and operators even more critical. By adhering to high standards of customer service and continuing to improve campground facilities, these professionals can ensure a rewarding experience for campers and contribute to the growth and success of their businesses.
