The 2021 RV Dealers Convention/Expo hosted by the National RV Dealers Association (RVDA) in Las Vegas this week provided not only engagement and learning opportunities for RV industry members, but the event also served as an avenue to recognize professionals in the industry.
Awardees of the Society of Certified RV Professionals were honored at the reception on Monday. Other than convention scholarships, the five outstanding dealership employees were given plaques and gifts from sponsors. The awardees were Steve Davis, a master certified technician; Chris Roy, a certified service writer/advisor; Denny Holmes, a certified parts and service manager; Anna Freeman, a certified parts specialist; and Lynn Kemp, a certified warranty administrator.
Following that, author and business coach Mike Bensi delivered a presentation on things dealers have to understand in order to build employee commitment. Bensi emphasized five stages including: Reach, Discovery, Bond, Prepare, and Advocacy.
He also went into detail about onboarding new team members where he suggested a buddy system and meetings with managers during the first week—some steps that will help make the transition easier. He also divulged ways to improve relationships with staff as well as creating transitioning programs for retiring employees.
Tuesday’s agenda included a presentation geared towards young RV executives where Bensi shared methods in improving management and leadership skills. During the opening general session, Nathan Jamail discussed Coaching Your Team To Excellence. The day also included a session spearheaded by experienced dealer operators who gave recommendations to help increase profit in the post-covid rental market.
Other Tuesday highlights were Partners in Progress meetings, Vendor Training + Sessions, Expo Hall, and an RVDA of Canada Reception to cap the day off.
Wednesday was allotted for the separate meetings of the RVDA of Canada and U.S.A., Tracked Education Program, Partners in Progress meetings, Expo Hall, Super Lawyers Panel, as well as a reception for young RV executives followed by awards and reception for top 50 RV dealers.
In conjunction with the in-person event, RVDA provided a virtual option that served as a mobile-friendly guide for attendees throughout the convention. The Virtual RVDA Convention/Expo Site lets participants view the event’s program and agenda where they can add sessions to their personal agenda for the day. Viewing the floorplan and exhibit hall is also possible, with a feature that allows attendees to add participating companies they would like to visit. The site also enables them to connect and network with other attendees.
The RV Dealers Convention Expo started on Monday (November 8) and runs through today (November 12) at Paris Las Vegas.
