Squatch Pines Family Campground, a new RV-only campground in Prudenville, Michigan, is scheduled to open May 15, adding 66 full hook-up sites to an area surrounded by extensive public land near Houghton Lake.
The opening expands camping capacity in a region popular with outdoor recreation enthusiasts and comes as advance bookings are already underway, reflecting early demand ahead of the spring and summer travel season.
“Bookings are open and sites are already filling. Whether you’re planning a quick escape or a longer stay, we can’t wait to welcome you to Squatch Pines,” the campground announces in a Facebook post.
Located within approximately 140,000 acres of surrounding state land, Squatch Pines positions itself as a family-oriented destination offering access to trails, nearby beaches and local amenities. The campground is the only full hook-up campground within a 10-mile radius.
The campground includes 66 total sites designed for recreational vehicles and offers on-site amenities such as a swimming pool, a new bathhouse and laundry facilities.
Guests also have access to nearby trails and a public beach, along with proximity to local shops, pubs and restaurants in the Prudenville and Houghton Lake area.
Operators describe the campground as built for comfort and space, emphasizing a quieter, laid-back environment intended for families seeking longer stays or short getaways. The property is ORV-friendly, with designated parking available, and includes recreational features such as pickleball.
In addition to lodging operations, Squatch Pines is beginning to roll out branded merchandise ahead of its opening. The campground’s first products, including branded T-shirts, are part of a developing on-site camp store that is still being assembled behind the scenes. Additional merchandise offerings are planned as opening day approaches.
Bookings for the 2026 season are already open.. The campground is promoting reservations for short-term visits, extended stays and seasonal use as travelers plan spring and summer trips.
