RV dealer General RV Center has recently been acknowledged by Crain’s Detroit as the top family-owned RV dealership in the state.
This prestigious recognition places General RV Center among the giants in Michigan’s business community, being named the 18th largest family-owned enterprise in the region for the year 2024.
Founded in 1962 by Abe Baidas, General RV Center has expanded under the leadership of his grandson, Loren Baidas. This growth is a testament to the family’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing the founder’s vision. Today, the company not only retains its familial leadership but has also grown to include nearly 20 locations nationwide.
In the past few years, General RV has demonstrated significant business growth. According to Crain’s Detroit, it rose from the 15th to the 14th fastest-growing business in Michigan from 2022 to 2023.
According to a press release, this upward trajectory is part of a broader expansion strategy that includes breaking ground on new locations in Utah and North Carolina, slated to open in late 2024.
We’re proud to continue our tradition of being one of Michigan’s largest family-owned businesses,” said Loren Baidas, CEO of General RV Center. His leadership continues to emphasize the importance of family values and customer-focused service, driving the company to new heights.
The operational strategy at General RV is robust, encompassing full-service dealerships in states such as Illinois, Ohio, Virginia, Florida, Utah, and Pennsylvania. These facilities not only sell RVs but also offer comprehensive service and retail parts, creating a full-circle customer experience.
General RV’s impact extends beyond the corporate sector into local communities. It provides employment and engages in community activities, strengthening local economies particularly in Michigan. This dual role enhances its stature within the industry and amongst the locales it serves.
Within the broader RV market, General RV stands out not only for its size but for its approach to business. As Michigan’s premier RV dealer, it offers a model for how family-owned businesses can thrive through generations of leadership while adapting to modern market demands.
