General RV Center Completes Initial Construction Phase of New Supercenter

General RV Center has completed the initial construction phase of its first North Carolina Supercenter in Salisbury, which is expected to open in late 2024.

This strategic location is designed to attract RV enthusiasts from across the region. Situated in Rowan County, northeast of Charlotte, the 71,000-square-foot facility is poised to become a large RV Supercenter within a 400-mile radius, with over 40 service bays and a capacity for 700 RVs

It took us years to find the perfect spot, the ideal community to call our home in North Carolina. We’re grateful for the unwavering support of Rowan County and the city of Salisbury. As construction continues, we look forward to opening our doors and sharing our love for RVing with this region, offering top-notch service and accessibility for both new and existing customers to make RV memories for themselves and their families,” General RV CEO Loren Baidas said in a press release.

The ongoing construction has already brought economic benefits to Rowan County, injecting approximately $15 million through property improvements and equipment. This phase has also contributed to creating about 70 indirect and induced jobs. By the end of the project, General RV’s total investment in the community is expected to reach $25 million.

The opening of the Supercenter is anticipated to generate more than 150 full-time jobs, each offering an average salary of $65,000. Additionally, the facility is projected to attract 10,000 annual customers, who are expected to spend, on average, six hours in the area, contributing roughly $740,000 annually to local shops, restaurants, and attractions.

Rowan EDC President Rod Crider expressed enthusiasm for the project, saying, “We are thankful for General RV’s investment in our community and excited about the progress being made on the new supercenter. We look forward to this new facility serving Rowan County, as well as the entire region.”

With construction moving into the next phase, efforts are now concentrated on additional structural enhancements, such as paving and the installation of sidewalks and curbs.

Founded in Michigan in 1962, General RV Center operates full-service dealerships across several states, including Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Virginia, Florida, Utah, and Pennsylvania. Each location offers a comprehensive range of RV sales, services, and parts.
