According to the outdoor hospitality experts, 2023 would be the “year of the marketer,” citing the need to adapt to a changing audience and use effective digital marketing to grow the business.
In addition, they also brought up the importance of having unique value propositions as a business including key amenities, and even the location of the property, which would all have an impact on bookings. And as the industry is shifting to shorter booking windows for many potential guests, it’s increasingly important to be able to communicate what makes a property stand out to potential customers.
Ellingson reported that the industry is thriving despite what the people in the industry say about the economy. She observed that the recent Tampa RV & Camping Show had more qualified buyers, more rig innovations, and an increase in number of campgrounds with booths.
The panel then brought up the future of online bookings for camping sites, looking into the potential impact of AI-powered search engines like Bing and Google on the industry and what this would mean for online travel agencies (OTAs) in the future.
