The RV Technical Institute (RVTI) is seeking industry professionals to participate in committees and commissions responsible for shaping RV technician training, curriculum and certification programs.
According to a News and Insights report of RVIA on September 15, RVTI is expanding volunteer participation on its Curriculum Committee, Curriculum Subcommittees and Certification Commission as the industry’s technology, products, service practices and workforce needs evolve.
Additional industry perspectives can help keep its programs relevant and aligned with the skills technicians need.
Historically, participation in the groups has relied heavily on Master Certified RV Technicians. RVTI said their technical knowledge and real-world experience remain essential, while the institute is seeking to add perspectives from other areas of the RV industry.
Professionals from RV manufacturers, suppliers, dealerships, training providers, educators and other industry organizations are encouraged to participate. The expanded representation is intended to help RVTI ensure its curriculum and certification programs address current technician requirements and industry needs.
The Curriculum Committee provides industry feedback and guidance on RVTI curriculum standards, training requirements, certification updates and continuing technical education. Curriculum Subcommittees focus on specific technical subject areas and allow professionals with specialized expertise to contribute to curriculum and technical-standard reviews.
The Certification Commission supports RVTI certification standards, assessment and technician competency. RVTI is seeking professionals with experience in propane, water systems, electrical, appliances, chassis, generators and body systems.
Volunteers can contribute technical and industry expertise, provide insight into the skills employers need and help ensure training reflects current products, technologies and service practices.
They also can collaborate with professionals from across the RV industry and contribute to technician training and certification programs.
Participation is open to professionals whose expertise comes from service bays, manufacturing facilities, supplier networks, dealerships, classrooms or other areas of the RV industry.
The institute said volunteers will contribute to programs intended to prepare technicians for the work they perform throughout their careers and support the development of the next generation of RV service professionals.
