Love’s Travel Stops is planning a major expansion and reinvestment push in 2026, committing $700 million toward new locations, remodels, technology upgrades and expanded amenities aimed at professional drivers, RVers, electric vehicle users and everyday travelers.
The company said Feb. 5 that its 2026 strategy centers on growth and customer value through what it calls its Road Ahead Plan, a long-term initiative under which more than half of its locations will be newly built or remodeled by 2035.
For 2026, the plan includes 20 new locations and upgrades at 35 existing sites.
“Our 2026 priorities reflect what has always mattered at Love’s, delivering a best-in-class customer experience every time,” President Shane Wharton said in a press release, citing investments in stores, food options, RV amenities, loyalty rewards and technology.
As part of the remodeling strategy, some locations will temporarily close during construction to speed completion, while still offering fuel, restrooms and limited food and beverage service through mobile buildings.
Support for truck drivers remains a core focus. Love’s plans to add 1,500 truck parking spaces in 2026, bringing its total to more than 52,000 spaces.
The company will also open two new truck care locations and four truck washes, and continue offering roadside assistance and maintenance services.
The company is also expanding its RV footprint with 23 new RV Stops and 150 additional hookups. By the end of the year, Love’s expects to operate more than 140 RV locations with about 2,000 hookups nationwide.
Beginning this spring, RV tires and batteries will be sold at 79 locations equipped with truck care and RV hookups.
In alternative fuels, Love’s Alternative Energy will install 100 new electric vehicle charging stalls in 2026 through the federal NEVI grant program.
Fast chargers are planned for about 150 locations over the next several years. The company is also continuing development of hydrogen and compressed natural gas stations.
Love’s said it will relaunch its Love’s Rewards loyalty program later in February, allowing customers to earn points per dollar spent on in-store purchases and fuel. The program will also integrate with the company’s new retail media network.
Food service upgrades will continue with expanded order-ahead and kiosk technology across quick-service restaurant brands and the opening of its first Whataburger travel stop location in early 2026.
Love’s operates 668 locations in 42 states and employs nearly 40,000 people across North America and Europe.
