Kunes Auto & RV Group, a family-owned auto dealership, announced the consolidation of its Monmouth, Illinois, location with a neighboring store, according to a press release. This decision aims to enhance operational efficiencies across its business operations.
Despite the consolidation, the company has committed to retaining all 16 employees from the Monmouth store, offering them positions at other Kunes locations in Galesburg, Macomb, Sterling, and the Quad Cities area.
Scott Kunes, chief operating officer of Kunes Auto & RV Group, emphasized the importance of keeping the workforce within the Kunes family.
The consolidation marks a first in the company’s 28-year history, expanding from 15 dealerships in 2019 to over 40 and growing its workforce by approximately 1,000 employees.
The closure of the Monmouth store is part of a strategy to reallocate resources and invest in new areas, ensuring the company’s continued growth and success. Kunes Auto & RV Group reassures its Monmouth customers that they remain a priority, with access to service and parts at any of the group’s locations. This customer-centric approach underscores the company’s philosophy of fostering lifelong customer relationships.
“In addition to caring for our employees, it is equally important to show our Monmouth customers that they and their vehicles are a priority to us. A Kunes customer is a customer for life. We want them to know they are welcome at any of our locations whenever they need maintenance or have questions,” Kunes said.
