KOA Revamps KOA Rewards Loyalty Program

Kampgrounds of America, Inc. (KOA), an outdoor hospitality company in North America, has announced an exciting revamp of its long-running loyalty program, KOA Rewards

According to KOA’s press release, the new version of the program aims to simplify the point-earning and redemption process, making it easier for campers to plan their stays, track their earnings and rewards, and apply loyalty benefits during the online check-in process.

Under the previous program, reward points could only be redeemed in person as a camper checks in for their stay. However, the new system digitizes the entire process, allowing campers to use their points for discounts when booking stays through KOA.com and the KOA app.

The revamped KOA Rewards loyalty program is expected to appeal to KOA campground owners and operators looking to increase customer loyalty and drive repeat business. KOA Rewards campers account for approximately 50% of total nights at KOA campgrounds and are the company’s most loyal customers.

The new program reduces account holder tiers from three to two – Base and VIP – and simplifies the point-earning and redemption process. Meanwhile, the annual fee will remain at $36.

Base account holders receive a range of benefits, including 10% off the daily registration rate every night at any of KOA’s 500+ locations throughout the US and Canada

Additionally, they receive points for dollars off future KOA stays, with 6,500 points equaling $10, 15,000 points equaling $25, and 25,000 points equaling $50. Base account holders also receive a free night of camping at participating KOA campgrounds during the annual KOA Rewards Weekend (September 8-9), and exclusive offers and discounts from KOA’s corporate partners.

VIP account holders (earning 20,000 points in their account year) receive all base benefits and can earn 25% more points, receive a free 1-year enrollment in KOA Rewards, and get a bring-a-friend discount.

Additionally, their $10 cancellation fee is waived when following the campground cancellation policy.

According to Diane Eichler, senior vice president of marketing, “Nearly 60% of our KOA Rewards campers choose KOA first; they book more trips, camp more often, and spend the most time at our KOA campgrounds. We want to ensure that they feel appreciated and that being a KOA Rewards camper is a real value-add to their experience.”

By providing a more straightforward and convenient point-earning and redemption process, KOA Rewards is designed to keep campers coming back to KOA campgrounds year after year.

All new KOA Rewards account holders will be enrolled in the new system starting at the base tier. Current loyalty account holders will gradually transition into the new program when they renew their accounts.

The renewal process has not changed and can be completed at any KOA campground, online, or by calling KOA Camper Services.

The revamped KOA Rewards loyalty program provides a unique opportunity for campers to earn rewards and discounts while camping at KOA campgrounds. With the new system, KOA is aiming to make camping more accessible and affordable for campers, while also driving repeat business for KOA campgrounds.
