KI, a contract furniture manufacturer, has entered the outdoor furniture segment with the launch of its Outspan Outdoor Collection, designed for campuses, workplaces, hospitality venues, and other exterior environments.
The collection, created by Brian Buchik of Room B, features seating and tables engineered for outdoor durability, using powdercoated steel and high-density polyethylene surfaces. The system supports dining, collaboration, and casual gathering while maintaining an “architectural aesthetic.”
“Outdoor environments have become an increasingly important part of how people learn, work, and connect,” Angela Allen, director of product marketing at KI, said in a press release.
“With the introduction of Outspan, KI expands our portfolio to support spaces beyond interior walls. This collection allows designers and organizations to create cohesive environments that carry the same level of intention, durability, and design quality from inside to outside,” Allen added.
Outspan is designed as a unified system, with components that can be mixed and matched for a variety of applications.
The collection includes guest chairs, lounge chairs, stools, benches, and tables in multiple heights, shapes, and finishes.
Materials were selected for performance in demanding exterior conditions. Powdercoated steel and high-density polyethylene surfaces provide resistance to moisture, UV exposure, and daily wear, according to KI. The clean lines and consistent proportions of the collection enable visual continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces.
According to the press release, the collection’s versatility in supporting different types of gatherings, from collaborative meetings to casual moments of pause.
