Mason City in Iowa has launched an online reservation system for the MacNider Campground, accommodating reservations via their website for all 95 sites. This improvement streamlines the booking process, allowing campers to secure spots at their convenience and prepare their visits with ease.
The system is managed by Midwest-based Campground Commander. An interactive map on the website aids visitors in selecting their preferred campsite based on specific amenities and allows for online payment, further enhancing the user experience.
MacNider Campground is equipped with facilities to ensure a comfortable camping experience. It featured essential services such as water, electrical, and sanitary sewer hookups, alongside a dump station for maintenance needs. The campground is well-lit with park lighting and features paved and gravel roadways for easy access. Safety amenities include a combined tornado shelter and bathhouse. For convenience and recreational needs, the site includes picnic shelters, a well-stocked office, and a camp store.
According to a Globe Gazette report, Brian Pauly, superintendent of Recreation, Golf, and Arena for the Mason City Recreation Department, highlighted the campground’s high ratings and recommendations by RV Park Review.
The layout of MacNider Campground includes 30 full hookups that offer water, sewer, and electrical services. Additionally, there are 45 sites with water and electrical hookups and 15 tent sites that provide water service. All 90 sites are furnished with a fire ring and picnic table to enhance the camping experience.
The tent areas feature 12 fire rings, six picnic tables, and four large barbecue grills for communal use. The picnic shelters are designed for accessibility, equipped with two standard and two wheelchair-accessible picnic tables, plus a barbecue grill for gatherings.
The introduction of the online reservation system marks a significant improvement for the campground, particularly for travelers planning from afar.
“This allows people to really plan ahead. We’ll reset the reservation system in January, and people can start planning for next year,” Pauly said.
