Thanks to state funding, upgrades and improvements are coming to Port Canaveral’s Jetty Park Campground (Florida).
As per a report, the Port will receive $760,000 in state funds and will also contribute $190,000 in matching funds. Almost $1 million will be used to renovate two park areas.
Nearly a quarter of about 100 camping sites will receive new concrete and power connections for RVs. On average, campers who go camping pay $700 per stay, and many travels to other locations along the Space Coast.
Joe Jones and his wife Ann from Ocala are thrilled to hear the news.
“I’m happy to hear that. I’ll be spending more time here,” Jones said.
Others from central Florida are also already sold on camping at Jetty Park.
“Think it’ll be awesome. I mean, it’s a really nice place,” Candy O’Neill said.
“The scenery, I guess you wanna say, the northerners who come and visit, there are a lot of nice people around. And the launches, definitely the rockets,” Seth Rice said.
The pavilion near the fishing pier has not been used since the pandemic. The building will be upgraded, and plans are in place to add a retailer and create an event space and a roof deck with views of the Cape and the Atlantic.
More than half a million visitors have visited Jetty Park this year, and thanks to these upgrades and improvements, the Port hopes to grow the numbers even more.
