Empowering Women in the RV Tech Industry: A Journey of Growth and Recognition

The RV tech industry is witnessing a transformative shift. Women are not just entering the field but are also making significant contributions, driving growth, and bringing about positive changes.

The RV Women’s Alliance (RVWA) stands at the forefront of this change. Rooted in recognizing and celebrating the accomplishments of women, the alliance has initiated award programs to honor women’s achievements in the RV tech industry.

The demographics of the RV community are evolving. The once predominantly older, white male community is now more diverse, with women playing pivotal roles. The pandemic further accelerated this shift, introducing a broader customer base to the RV lifestyle.

As per the News & Insights report of the RV Industry Association (RVIA), the journey for women in the RV tech industry hasn’t been without challenges. From breaking stereotypes to proving their mettle in a traditionally male-dominated field, women have faced numerous obstacles. Yet, they are overcoming these challenges and seizing opportunities with support and initiative.

The RVWA Awards program, initiated in 2022, is a testament to the industry’s commitment to recognizing women’s contributions. The awards are presented in categories like the Trailblazer Award for Lifetime Achievement and the Leader of Tomorrow Award, celebrating both seasoned professionals and emerging leaders.

Notable awardees, such as Debbie Brunoforte, President of Little Dealer, Little Prices, and Alyssa Cox, Forest River Marketing Director, exemplify the excellence women bring to the industry. Their achievements serve as an inspiration for many aspiring women in the RV tech domain.

2022 was a landmark year for the RV Women’s Alliance. Major initiatives like the Educational Symposium and a mentorship program were introduced. The alliance’s membership reached an impressive 1,500 members from over 500 RV companies, reflecting the growing influence of women in the industry.

The inaugural Education Symposium was a significant event, offering two days of education and networking. It provided a platform for women from across the industry to learn, share, and grow, further solidifying the role of women in the RV tech industry.

Another commendable initiative was the all-female RV tech class, a collaboration with the RV Technical Institute (RVTI). This program, which graduated 22 women, was so successful that it’s set to go nationwide in 2023, further promoting women’s participation in the industry.

Mentorship plays a crucial role in nurturing talent. Recognizing this, the RV Women’s Alliance launched a pilot mentorship program in 2022. Given its success and the positive feedback received, a full-scale mentorship program is set to launch in 2023.

The RV tech industry’s landscape is changing, with women leading the charge. Their contributions, achievements, and support from organizations like the RVWA are ensuring a brighter, more inclusive future for the industry.

The RV tech industry is on a progressive path, with women playing a central role in its evolution. Their achievements, backed by supportive initiatives, drive growth and set new standards of excellence in the industry.
