55% Of Class A RV Owners Prefer To Stay At Private Campgrounds—RVIA Profile

Two types of recreational vehicles (RVs) are motorcoaches and towables. The most popular types of motorcoaches are class A motorhomes, according to the RV Industry Association’s Go RVing RV Owner Demographic Profile.

The majority of owners of Class As are typically owned by Gen Zers/Millennials (35 percent), first-time owners (32 percent), and young families (25 percent).

According to the demographics, 40 percent of the owners are between the ages of 18-54, while 66 percent of them are 55 and above. 46 percent are female and 53 percent male.

Those who are retired make up 42% of the demographics while 74% of Class A RV owners have no children.

For those employed, 58 percent of Class A owners have a salary of more than $65,000.

Class A owners typically travel during the summer (81 percent) or the fall (57 percent) while other owners prefer spring (46 percent) or winter (36 percent). They typically utilize their RV 27 days of the year and take them during 61 percent of their vacation time.

59 percent of owners of Class A bought their RV brand new and usually stay at a private campground (55 percent), state parks (47 percent), or RV resorts (38 percent).

While on the road, Class A owners are more likely to take part in fishing (42 percent), outdoor activities (40 percent), and water-based recreational activities (27 percent).

Concerning the attitudes of Class A owners toward the RV they own, 75 percent of them said the possession of an RV eases travel. Additionally, 74 percent of the owners believe that RVs allow for convenient travel for any physical condition or age.
