Buffalo Trace Distillery to Launch Adult Glamping Experience This August

Buffalo Trace Distillery is introducing a new overnight glamping experience as part of its visitor programming with the launch of Camp Buffalo Trace, a limited-capacity event scheduled for August 29 and September 5 at the distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky.

The event combines bourbon-themed activities with optional overnight accommodations in furnished canvas tents, reflecting a broader trend of experiential travel that blends outdoor lodging with destination-based attractions. According to the announcement, Camp Buffalo Trace is open only to guests aged 21 and older and will accommodate a total of 200 participants across the two event dates. Attendance will be determined through a raffle.

Located on the more than 130-acre Buffalo Trace Distillery property along the Kentucky River, the event expands on the distillery’s existing portfolio of visitor experiences, which already includes a range of guided tours and bourbon education programs.

Camp Buffalo Trace will be offered as a single-day experience, with guests able to choose either a day-only visit or a package that includes an overnight stay in one of the property’s glamping tents.

According to Travel Awaits, the overnight accommodations feature air-conditioned canvas tents equipped with stocked mini refrigerators, robes, and slippers. While the accommodations are temporary, they represent an example of how glamping infrastructure can be incorporated into destination attractions to create extended guest experiences beyond traditional tours or day visits.

During the event, attendees will participate in bourbon-themed activities including a whiskey woodcraft workshop where participants create custom muddlers, a bung driving relay, a blind tasting trivia session, and a barrel-aging tasting challenge. The programming is designed around bourbon education and hands-on experiences that complement the distillery’s core brand.

Applications for the raffle will open on July 14 and close at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on July 21. Interested participants must review the official rules and submit an application during the entry period for a chance to attend one of the two Camp Buffalo Trace dates.

For professionals in the outdoor hospitality and glamping sectors, the initiative illustrates how established brands outside the traditional camping industry are using glamping accommodations to diversify visitor experiences, extend guest dwell time, and create additional engagement opportunities around an existing attraction.

Rather than serving solely as lodging, the glamping component functions as part of a broader experiential package centered on education, entertainment, and brand storytelling.

As more tourism destinations seek to differentiate themselves, partnerships between hospitality operators and established consumer brands may present new opportunities for experiential accommodations that appeal to niche audiences while generating incremental visitation and overnight revenue.
