South Ayrshire Council in Scotland approved proposals for a glamping site near the Buskin Burn, according to an AYR Advertiser report. The glamping area aims to build glamping pods and a bunkhouse.
Laird Morgan Cooper, hailing from Selkirk in the Borders, expressed his intent to transform part of his land into a site that promotes off-grid living. This development plan includes the utilization of local businesses and the creation of job opportunities for the local area.
A unique aspect of this glamping site will be its array of classes and tours, encompassing subjects like reiki healing, shamanic drumming, and outdoor survival skills. Cooper’s vision extends to the production and sale of organic goods, ranging from produce to handcrafted items, all available through an honesty box system at the property’s entrance.
South Ayrshire Council’s approval of the project comes with stipulations for the removal of the site’s structures should it cease operations. In addition, the council’s report highlights the compatibility of the site’s design with its rural surroundings.
The planning documents submitted to the South Ayrshire Council outlined a vision for eight glamping pods and a bunkhouse, intended to attract tourists and serve as a base for educational activities. The project also aims to teach participants about self-sustainability.
“We aim to run a charitable educational organization along with the glamping site, this will educate people on becoming self-sustainable,” Cooper said, as quoted in the supporting statement.
The proposed site, which Cooper has owned since 2020, is currently undergoing development. By removing livestock and introducing species such as alpacas and chickens, Cooper aims to enhance biodiversity on the premises. Planned additions for the year include bees and ducks, further enriching the local ecosystem.
The addition of a reception and storage facility, along with parking space for ten vehicles, is part of the glamping proposal.
South Ayrshire showcases skateboarding activities that gather friends for exhilarating, gravity-defying maneuvers on wheeled boards. Esteemed skateboarding spots offer unique landscapes for this sport. Additionally, Dam Park Stadium serves a broader purpose beyond skateboarding, featuring facilities like a pavilion with five changing rooms, shower blocks, storerooms, and a general-purpose area for outdoor activities.
