A proposal for ten glamping pods that could help the sustainability of a Todmorden (England) farm has been lodged to Calderdale Council.
Esther Horsfall has applied to Calderdale Council seeking planning permission for the project at Shoebroad Farm, Shoebroad Lane, Todmorden
According to a report, a supporting document to the planning application states that the proposal calls for a mix of small and large glamping pods with all pod sites sitting comfortably within and against densely wooded surroundings.
Each pod would feature a double bedroom with a sitting area, and larger pods would have a sink provided.
The document, compiled by Moreton Deakin Construction, says that the pods will offer high-quality and comfortable accommodation, complementing what is already offered at Shoebroad Barn.
The woodland lodge-style pods will be designed to work with the land rather than overwhelm it with pathways that follow contour lines where possible, keeping established trees where possible, and, where not, replanting with native species to give a net uplift in number.
The existing pathways will not be impacted by the construction of new structures or boundary treatments according to the statement.
If approved, the pods will earn an income that will help maintain the farm and grounds and ensure the farm’s future in a rural area that is still very close to Todmorden town center, which will benefit local businesses by increasing traffic.
The document argues National Planning Policy Framework recommends green belt be utilized to increase the beneficial use of land, which includes outdoor recreation.
According to its Facebook page, Shoebroad Barn is a self-catering accommodation in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside. It is a substantial semi-detached barn conversion offering a semi-rural setting and commanding wonderful views.
