Pembrokeshire Site Tops Pitchup.com List of Best Family Campsites in Britain

Recent data from Pitchup.com has identified leading family-friendly campsites across the United Kingdom, based on nearly 200,000 verified customer reviews. The findings highlight continued growth in domestic outdoor stays as families opt for shorter, lower-cost breaks within the UK rather than traveling abroad.

At the top of the ranking is Trefach Holiday Park in Mynachlog-ddu, Clunderwen, Pembrokeshire, which achieved the highest score for child-friendliness at 9.3 out of 10. The analysis assessed guest feedback across multiple criteria, with a particular focus on how well sites cater to families traveling with children.

Another site to perform strongly in the rankings is Puddleduck Glamping in Lancashire, which placed seventh overall with a child-friendliness score of 8.8. The site is noted for its bell tent accommodation, with units spaced to provide privacy while maintaining access to shared bathroom and kitchen facilities.

It is also located within walking distance of a farm shop and cycling routes, contributing to its appeal for families seeking activity-based stays without extensive travel once on site.

According to LancsLive, a visitor review included in the data stated: “What a wonderful place full of love and charm. Best glamping site I’ve visited so far, and I think it will be hard to beat. The outdoor kitchen had everything we needed for our breakaway. The bathroom was stylish, clean, and smelt delightful.”

Other sites included in the top 10 reflect a wide geographic spread across the UK. Jubilee Camping in Hampshire placed second, followed by Panoramic Camping and Glamping in Swansea in third.

Additional locations in the ranking include Little Thornham Holidays in Wiltshire, Magical Malpas PYO Farm in Cheshire, Auchingarrich Wildlife Park in Perthshire, South Ford Farm Camping in Devon, Poplar Grove Farm Caravan Park in Lancashire, and Riverside Holiday Village in Somerset. This distribution highlights demand for family-oriented outdoor accommodation across both rural and coastal regions.

From an industry perspective, the data reinforces several ongoing trends in outdoor hospitality. Family travelers are consistently prioritizing sites that combine safe, open space with practical amenities such as shared kitchens, on-site food options, and nearby attractions.

The performance of properties like Puddleduck Glamping also reflects the growing importance of privacy within clustered accommodation layouts, particularly for bell tents and glamping units. Proximity to local points of interest such as farm shops, cycling routes, and pubs continues to enhance perceived value without requiring large-scale infrastructure investment from operators.

Pitchup.com founder Dan Yates commented: “Camping and glamping holidays continue to be a popular choice for families looking to spend quality time together outdoors, particularly as more people seek flexible and affordable UK breaks. The sites featured in these rankings stood out for creating welcoming, family-friendly experiences that give children the freedom to explore while helping parents relax and unwind.

“We’re seeing families place increasing value on outdoor space, nature, and simple shared experiences, whether that’s wildlife watching, campfires, or easy access to beaches and walking routes. The variety of sites featured across the UK also shows there’s strong demand for family-friendly stays in every corner of Great Britain.”

The overall results indicate sustained competition among campsites and glamping operators to differentiate through experience design rather than scale alone, with guest reviews continuing to play a central role in visibility and ranking performance.
