New Croyde Camper Van Sets a New Standard in Coastal-Inspired, Off-Grid Travel

In the evolving world of campervans, preferences vary from small, versatile models suitable for daily transport and short getaways, to larger, more spacious vehicles designed for extended adventures. However, according to an article by autoevolution the demand for medium-sized vans that balance maneuverability with ample living space is on the rise.

The Croyde camper van, built on a 2021 Peugeot Boxer MWB L2 H2 chassis, offers this ideal mix. Crafted by Twin Coast Campers in Devon, UK, this conversion completed in November 2023, cost approximately £24,500 (around $31,200) excluding the base vehicle.

Measuring 5.4 meters long, 2 meters wide, and 2.5 meters high (17.7 ft x 6.5 ft x 8.2 ft), the van provides a fresh and inviting living space, complete with a fully functional off-grid electrical system.

Named after the North Devon village, the Croyde camper van features a coastal theme with a blue and beige color palette, light wood finishes, and natural elements like ropes and greenery.

The open and airy interior benefits from large side and rear doors, light pine wood on the walls and ceiling, and thoughtfully designed zones. Oak slatted screens divide the kitchen from the lounging, dining, and sleeping area without compromising the open feel.

The driver’s cab, separated from the living space by a small window, leads to a well-appointed L-shaped kitchen with ample storage, counter space, a sink, a double-hob gas cooktop, and a 50-liter fridge/freezer. A 60-liter freshwater tank and an onboard water heater provide hot water to the kitchen and an outdoor shower. Above, a small skylight ensures ventilation.

The rear section includes two built-in benches with blue cushions and a flexible table that can be removed for more space. At night, the benches convert into a double bed. An outdoor table mounted on the rear door, adjustable via a telescopic stand, offers convenient outdoor dining options.

Storage solutions are plentiful, with cabinets throughout, an over-cab compartment, and upper cabinets. Additional features include a shoe compartment and a drawer for a portable toilet.

The exterior remains discreet, ideal for stealth camping, with solar panels, a side awning, and underslung water tanks indicating its camping capabilities.

Equipped for off-grid adventures, the Croyde features a 200W solar panel powering a 130Ah AGM leisure battery, managed by a Victron electrical system.

Soundproofed and insulated, with privacy windows and an MV Airo 2KW diesel heater, the van ensures comfort in all conditions. Most interior furniture is made of lightweight yet strong poplar plywood.

The introduction of the Croyde camper van by Twin Coast Campers is a significant development in the RV industry, blending stylish design with practical off-grid capabilities.

This medium-sized van conversion addresses the increasing demand for versatile, adventure-ready vehicles, emphasizing key trends in camper van design such as aesthetic appeal and sustainability. The Croyde’s launch highlights a growing focus on creating mobile living solutions that are both functional and visually pleasing.
