HSBC UK Supports Harrison Holidays’ Growth with Crofthead Park Deal

Harrison Holidays has expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of Crofthead Holiday Park in Ayr, a move supported by an eight-figure funding package from HSBC UK

The acquisition adds 575 pitches to the company’s holdings, bringing its total to over 3,000 across 10 UK holiday parks.

Crofthead Holiday Park, spanning 85 acres along the South Ayrshire coast, currently offers 50 luxury lodges and static caravans available for holiday bookings, along with 25 rental pitches.

The park also accommodates 650 privately owned holiday homes. As part of its growth strategy, Harrison Holidays plans to develop an additional 130 to 150 static caravan and lodge plots, expanding its offerings to both holidaymakers and prospective owners.

The acquisition also secures the jobs of 24 full-time employees at Crofthead, bringing Harrison Holidays’ total workforce to more than 200 across its UK locations, according to a report published by Ayr Advertiser

William Harrison, a director at the company, emphasized the significance of the expansion, highlighting both the business opportunity and the appeal of the region.

“Crofthead Holiday Park provides customers old and new with the opportunity to enjoy Ayrshire’s scenic coastline and picturesque countryside, in addition to the many popular attractions, such as family favourite Heads of Ayr Farm Park and historic Dunure Castle,” he said.

For industry professionals, the expansion reflects ongoing investor confidence in the UK’s holiday park sector.

Harrison Holidays’ growth strategy aligns with a broader trend of increased demand for domestic leisure travel, as operators seek to enhance their offerings to meet evolving consumer expectations

The financial backing from HSBC UK underscores the role of major lenders in facilitating industry expansion, ensuring that businesses have the capital to develop new sites and improve existing ones.

David Edwards, global relationship director at HSBC UK, noted the broader economic impact of the deal.

“This acquisition is a fantastic example of a business identifying a significant investment opportunity that not only adds value to its customers but also secures the long-term employment of those within a local community,” he said.

With continued demand for high-quality UK holiday experiences, Harrison Holidays’ latest acquisition positions the company to capture a larger share of the growing market while reinforcing the economic stability of the surrounding community.
