Double-Decker Buses Converted into Sustainable Glamping Pods for Unique Wolds Farm Stay

A Lincolnshire farm has submitted an application to East Lindsey District Council to create a unique glamping experience using double-decker buses. The farm, owned by GB Grant and Sons, plans to install two double-decker buses that will be joined together to form one massive pod capable of accommodating four to eight people.

The Mega Decker glamping pods, which have previously featured on Johnny Vegas’ Carry on Glamping, have been created by the company Shred & Butta.

The ground floor of one bus will serve as the children’s sleeping area while the other will house the adults’ sleeping area, bathtub, and composting toilet.

The accommodation has been built using recycled material, painted matte black with hints of natural wood to blend into the landscape when viewed from a distance.

The proposed glamping site, named “Wold of Your Own,” has been designed as an off-grid and self-sustaining retreat. The site will use solar power and other sustainable methods, and the farm owners aim to provide a luxurious, idyllic glamping experience for those wishing to escape, relax, and reconnect with nature.

GB Grant and Sons have stated that the farm needed to diversify and adapt for the future, hence the Wold of Your Own initiative.

The farm owners have highlighted their commitment to sustainability by using recycled materials and creating an off-grid, eco-friendly retreat. The glamping pods will not be visible to the public unless they are on the farm itself, ensuring that the pods blend seamlessly into the landscape.

Private campground owners and operators will be interested in the Wold of Your Own initiative as it showcases a unique and sustainable glamping experience. The use of recycled materials and solar power aligns with many private campground owners’ efforts to reduce their carbon footprint and promote eco-friendly camping options.

The council will decide on the plans at a later date. If approved, the Wold of Your Own initiative will be a unique addition to Lincolnshire’s glamping scene, providing a luxurious and sustainable glamping experience for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
