The Southfield Farm Caravan Park (United Kingdom), located on Weston Road in Brean, Somerset, has recently submitted plans to the Sedgemoor District Council to upgrade its facilities by introducing 30 new luxury caravan units to one of its fields, according to a report by Burnham-On-Sea.com.
The park currently has 48 static caravans and 142 touring pitches within the field that is included in the planning application. If permission is granted, the new luxury caravans will replace 58 plots for touring caravans, which would be available for holiday and short-term rentals.
According to the park, the new additions would bring the total number of units in the field to 162, which is well within the 200 permitted units allowed by the park’s license.
The park states in its planning application that the changes are necessary to “address customer demand and provide comparable competition with other holiday parks,” as well as to “provide a much-improved experience in keeping with newer standards and customer requirements.”
The application also mentions that the existing park has been developed over a long period, and some parts of the site need to be updated. As such, the proposed upgrades aim to modernize the park and provide higher-quality accommodation for visitors.
The caravan units have an “informal and attractive layout,” and each unit would have parking space for two cars and bicycles. The size of the units will vary.
Access to the development site would be via an existing internal private road within the holiday park, while the main public access to the park would remain unchanged.
The Sedgemoor District Council’s planning department is inviting feedback on the plans until January 31st, under reference number 06/22/00024.
