Applewood Countryside Park Named Best Holiday Park in East of England

Applewood Countryside Park, located in the scenic surroundings of Banham, Norfolk, has been honored as the Camping, Glamping, and Holiday Park of the Year at the East of England Tourism Awards 2023-2024.

This prestigious accolade reflects the park’s continuous development and commitment to providing high-quality recreational experiences since its inception in 1990.

Originally an apple orchard, the site was transformed into a holiday park by founders Martin and Caroline Goymour. The name ‘Applewood Countryside Park’ pays homage to its roots while marking the beginning of a new chapter in outdoor hospitality

Over the decades, the park has expanded its offerings from basic camping facilities to include luxury glamping options, catering to a diverse range of preferences, as reported by The Hunts Post.

Today, the park boasts an array of modern facilities including state-of-the-art shower rooms, accessible family bathrooms, free Wi-Fi, and dedicated children’s play areas. These enhancements have been pivotal in accommodating the growing number of visitors seeking both relaxation and adventure in Norfolk’s countryside.

In early 2023, Applewood Countryside Park was awarded a Silver Award by the Caravan Storage Site Owners’ Association (CaSSOA) for its exemplary caravan and motorhome storage facilities, acknowledging the park’s high standards in security and customer service.

The management team, now including the Goymour’s children, Adam and Kiera, has set their sights on achieving a Gold Award, demonstrating their ongoing dedication to excellence.

Karen Johnson, the park manager, expressed her delight at receiving such a significant industry award.

“We were incredibly pleased with the honor of winning the Camping, Glamping and Holiday Park of the Year Award, especially as we competed with so many other deserving local businesses,” Johnson said. This recognition has notably increased the park’s visibility and attracted more visitors, thereby boosting local tourism and the economy.

Applewood is also a community hub, hosting annual events like the Halloween Spooktacular, Canine Carnival, and Fun Easter Extravaganza. These events not only provide entertainment for guests but also foster a sense of community and bring additional business to the area.

Adjacent to the camping and glamping sites, Applewood Hall serves as a venue for weddings and special events, seamlessly integrating with the park to offer comprehensive event services. This synergy allows guests to enjoy a full weekend of celebrations in a picturesque setting, enhancing their overall experience.

The park’s commitment to guest satisfaction extends beyond recreational facilities. It actively promotes local businesses and attractions, offering guests discounts to nearby tourist spots such as ROARR!, Pleasurewood Hills, and the English Whisky Distillery, thus supporting the wider Norfolk tourist economy.

Looking forward, Applewood Countryside Park plans to further enhance its facilities and expand its service offerings.

“We are always aiming to improve and add to the extensive facilities that we provide,” Johnson said.

This forward-thinking approach ensures that Applewood remains a top choice for holidaymakers seeking a blend of traditional charm and modern comfort in the heart of Norfolk.

Applewood Countryside Park continues to set a high standard for outdoor hospitality in the East of England, providing memorable experiences that keep guests returning year after year.
