Denbighshire County Council is set to review a proposal, seeking permission to establish two A-frame glamping units on a 6,046 square-meter parcel of currently vacant grazing land at Berth Farm. The farm is strategically located near the junction of Dre Goch to Ty Gwyn in Bodfari, near Denbigh.
The proposed development is adjacent to the designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), as mentioned in a Leader report. The initiative is part of an effort by Mr. M. Evans of Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd to diversify the income sources from the farm, which has been in his family for decades.
“The proposed site at Berth Farm enjoys truly splendid views. The farm itself consists of one farmhouse dwelling together with an array of outbuildings, agricultural land, and livestock,” the planning statement indicates.
The application details that the new glamping units will provide significant employment opportunities in the area. It is expected to create two full-time and three part-time jobs, contributing to the local economy. The plan also includes adequate parking facilities to accommodate visitors, addressing potential traffic and accessibility concerns. The view offers a breathtaking sight of the surrounding countryside.
As the project moves forward, it will undergo thorough scrutiny to ensure that it meets all regulatory requirements and achieves a balance between development and conservation. The planning application for the new glamping site at Berth Farm is set to be reviewed at Denbighshire’s Ruthin County Hall HQ.
The planning statement submitted with the application emphasizes that Berth Farm has consistently adapted to market and industry changes over the years, and the introduction of glamping facilities is seen as a continuation of this adaptive strategy.
As part of the planning process, Mr. Evans is expected to consult with neighbors and other stakeholders in the community. Feedback from these consultations will be crucial in addressing any concerns and ensuring that the project benefits all parties involved.
