Otter Falls Campground in Manitoba Set to Reopen in Time for Canada Day Weekend

The province of Manitoba (Canada) has announced that the Otter Falls campground in Whiteshell Provincial Park will be ready to welcome campers starting June 29, just in time for the Canada Day long weekend.

The campground, located on the Winnipeg River, was affected by flooding in 2022 and required a number of repairs.

Reservations for the campground will open on June 22 at 9 a.m. Campers can make reservations by visiting the Manitoba Parks website or by calling 1-888-482-2267. Reservations can also be made in person at the Natural Resources and Northern Development office in Winnipeg at 1181 Portage Ave.

The Tulabi Falls walk-in sites situated in Nopiming Provincial Park are closed due to flood damage from last year. Although all other provincial park campgrounds are open, repairs are currently being carried out, and there is no set date for reopening.

Before heading to provincial parks, it is advisable for visitors to check the current conditions. The Manitoba Parks website provides the latest information for their convenience. To keep abreast of provincial parks news, activities, and events, Manitobans can follow @MBGovParks on Twitter and Facebook.

According to a recent press release, numerous provincial parks are currently seeking to hire seasonal staff members for the upcoming camping season.

These positions include campground attendants, maintenance staff, and tradespersons. Additionally, the Manitoba Parks Green Team program is welcoming young individuals to join their team.

These seasonal roles provide an excellent opportunity for gaining experience in park and natural resource management, trades, and tourism industries.

The reopening of the Otter Falls campground is a significant development for the outdoor recreation industry in Manitoba. The campground’s location on the Winnipeg River and its amenities make it a popular destination for both local and out-of-province campers.

The campground’s closure due to flooding in 2022 was a setback for the industry, but its reopening signals a positive turn.

The availability of seasonal positions in provincial parks also provides opportunities for individuals interested in careers in the campground industry and related fields.

The reopening of the Otter Falls campground is a welcome development for the outdoor recreation industry in Manitoba. It not only provides more options for campers but also creates job opportunities in the industry.

As the campground industry continues to recover from the impacts of the 2022 flooding, developments like these are a positive sign of progress.
