Pondshire Opens Upgraded Private Glamping Retreat in Upstate New York

Pondshire has announced the broader public launch of its upgraded private glamping retreat in Brantingham, New York, following a trial season in 2025 and additional amenities introduced in 2026. The retreat offers a king-bed dome, two companion cabins, a private pond, and outdoor recreation facilities for couples and small groups booking the property exclusively.

The latest additions include a wood-fired hot tub at the end of the pond’s dock, a heated outdoor shower overlooking the water, and an indoor vanity with a sink and convenience toilet inside the dome. The upgrades expand the retreat’s amenities while maintaining its outdoor-oriented accommodation model.

“Last summer was a test period and we were still building,” John Paul, Pondshire’s owner, said in a press release as he referred to the 2025 season.

Pondshire’s direct reservations cover the entire retreat, including the dome and both cabins, regardless of whether the booking is for two guests or a larger group. The property accommodates up to six registered guests, with only one booking group permitted at a time. This arrangement allows guests to use the pond, hot tub, and included outdoor spaces without sharing them with unrelated visitors.

The main dome features a king bed for two guests. Additional sleeping arrangements include a double bed in the loft of the kitchen cabin and another double bed in the companion cabin. The kitchen cabin contains a gas stove and oven, cookware, utensils, and a compact refrigerator. A stovetop espresso maker, cups, wine glasses, and coffee mugs are also provided, while guests supply their preferred coffee. A mini refrigerator is available inside the dome.

Outdoor amenities include two kayaks, two paddleboats, and a rowboat, along with paddles for the kayaks and rowboat. Fishing poles and tackle are provided for guests interested in fishing. The property also supplies six life jackets, although guests are advised to check sizing and bring appropriately fitted life jackets for children when necessary.

A grill and fire pit provide additional options for outdoor cooking and gathering. Firewood and fire-starting materials are included, while guests who prefer charcoal for grilling must bring their own. Solar power, running water, and Starlink Wi-Fi support the retreat’s operations, although cellular reception may be limited.

The property’s facilities reflect a combination of indoor conveniences and outdoor infrastructure. The heated shower is located outside and overlooks the pond, while the dome’s vanity provides running water. A separate outhouse serves as the toilet facility, meaning the retreat does not offer a conventional indoor full bathroom. Drinking water is supplied in coolers in the dome and kitchen cabin, and linens, towels, and toiletries are included.

Because the dome, cabins, and other facilities are separate, guests may need to walk outdoors between different areas of the property. Pondshire recommends bringing suitable outdoor footwear and additional layers for cooler evenings.

The retreat accepts stays from April 1 through November 1, with a standard minimum stay of two nights. Rates, fees, availability, and cancellation terms are provided through its booking process. Prospective guests can also request an approximate driving time before making a reservation, while the exact location and arrival instructions are provided after booking confirmation.

For outdoor hospitality operators, Pondshire’s model illustrates how a small property can position exclusivity as a central part of its accommodation offering. Including multiple sleeping structures and recreational amenities under one reservation can appeal to couples seeking privacy as well as small groups requiring additional space. However, the model also depends on clearly communicating the differences between outdoor bathing facilities and conventional indoor bathrooms, along with the practical considerations of moving between separate buildings.

The retreat’s development also highlights an approach to introducing a glamping business in stages. Pondshire welcomed guests during its 2025 trial period before adding amenities in 2026. For operators developing similar properties, a phased opening can provide an opportunity to evaluate guest needs and refine facilities, provided that the available amenities and limitations are communicated clearly before reservations are made.

Pondshire is located in Upstate New York and accommodates couples and groups of up to six people through full-retreat direct bookings. Further information about accommodations, amenities, and reservations is available at Pondshire’s website.
