The Campground Owners of New York (CONY) is urging campgrounds to encourage guests to submit nominations before the July 31 deadline for the 2026 Best of Camp New York Awards, marking the final opportunity for parks to qualify for this year’s statewide recognition program.
According to an announcement from the association, campers across New York are currently nominating their favorite campgrounds for the annual awards.
The nomination period closes July 31, and no extensions will be granted, making it the only opportunity for campgrounds to secure a place on the ballot before public voting begins.
The association said the awards program gives campers an opportunity to recognize the campgrounds they value while offering participating parks the chance to receive statewide and national recognition.
Once nominations close, voting will open Aug. 7 and continue through Labor Day on Sept. 7. Because only nominated campgrounds advance to the voting stage, the association emphasized that the current nomination window is critical for parks seeking consideration in this year’s awards.
Winners of the 2026 Best of Camp New York Awards will be announced Sept. 28 during the Campground Owners of New York Annual Conference in Lake George.
“Every day that passes is a missed opportunity for a camper to nominate you,” the association said in its announcement.
In its announcement, the association encouraged campground operators to remind guests about the awards before the nomination period ends. Suggested outreach includes sending emails, posting on social media and mentioning the awards during guest check-in.
“This is your campers’ chance to recognize everything that makes your campground special, and your chance to earn statewide AND national recognition. Encourage your campers to nominate your campground now, before time runs out,” the association states.
