East Lynn Lake Campground Closed Due to Landslide

Last month’s landslide at East Lynn Lake (West Virginia) has prompted the closure of all camping areas through June 23.

As per a report, the area of concern is across the East Fork Campground Road between loops 3 and 4; the landslide took place on May 10.

Although some cleaning efforts were carried out after the slide, the entire campground has no power, and the engineers said it is not suitable for use.

The East Fork campground will be closed until the damage is repaired and the hillside can be stabilized.

All East Fork Campground reservations through June 23 will be canceled on the first day of reservation except if a reservation is modified before falling completely outside the closure date of June 23.

Those not modified by the first day of the reservation will be canceled in their entirety, and a full refund will be provided under recreation.gov refund policies.

All reservations containing days before the closure date of June 23 will be notified via email from the reservation system.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, especially during the upcoming holiday weekend, but the safety of our patrons and staff is of utmost importance,” said Huntington District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in a statement on Facebook.

“We will continue to provide updates via the District and Project Facebook sites as well as in recreation.gov.”
