Kamperage Pioneers Eco-Friendly Camping with Electric Trailer Rentals in Edmonds

A new business in Edmonds aims to make camping more accessible and environmentally friendly by offering electric trailer rentals. Kamperage, founded by Edmonds resident Will Curry, rents fully electric trailers designed to eliminate the need for traditional fuels like gas or propane.

Curry’s vision is to introduce camping to novices while offering seasoned campers a sustainable way to enjoy the outdoors.

Curry, who grew up camping in the Pacific Northwest, expressed his excitement about setting a precedent for camping with electrified recreational vehicles

“You might not be super comfortable with being outside. You may have never camped before, but we’re going to make a camper out of you,” he told My Edmonds News.

He views Kamperage as a gateway for newcomers to experience camping and the mental wellness benefits he associates with spending time outdoors.

Kamperage currently rents the Nomadic System One (NS-1), an electric trailer manufactured by Colorado-based Campworks. Equipped with a 12kWh battery and 300 watts of integrated solar power, the NS-1 eliminates reliance on fossil fuels while providing up to four days of stationary power.

The trailer includes a queen-sized memory foam mattress, climate control, Wi-Fi, and a fully outfitted kitchen. Additional features, such as a 20-gallon potable water tank, simplify planning for first-time campers.

To ease concerns for beginners, Curry spends up to an hour walking renters through the trailer’s systems during pickup or delivery. Procedures are also documented to ensure renters feel confident.

The trailer’s capabilities allow for flexibility, whether for a few days of off-grid camping or extended trips with periodic recharging via standard outlets or additional deployable solar panels.

While Kamperage is experiencing the typical seasonal slowdown, Curry sees this period as an opportunity to refine operations before the spring and summer seasons.

The company has introduced a promotional discount for Edmonds residents and has plans for future expansion. Curry envisions adding electric vans, such as Volkswagen’s upcoming electric model, to the fleet to further promote sustainable travel.

To accommodate diverse needs, Kamperage will maintain one pet-friendly trailer and one hypoallergenic option. Curry recognizes the importance of serving pet owners, noting his own family’s enjoyment of outdoor adventures with their dog.

Curry’s commitment to sustainability and accessibility underscores his goal to create a positive camping experience for a broad audience, fostering a connection to nature through innovative and eco-friendly solutions.
