Jordanelle Reservoir’s Glamping Experience to Return with 2 Luxury Tents

A glamping company, initially starting with just one tent, is now expanding its offerings by introducing a second tent at Jordanelle State Park in Utah. Situated along the Jordanelle Reservoir, the park continues its collaboration to offer a unique glamping experience for outdoor enthusiasts.

Gypsy Glamping features a glamping experience, featuring durable canvas bell tents equipped with boho-chic decor and traditional furnishings. Guests can enjoy the comfort of real beds, luxurious linens, plush Moroccan rugs, and the warm glow of solar-powered Edison bulbs.

Throughout the summer, it leases the campsites, maintains them, and shares a portion of its profits with the park. This partnership also requires compliance with park regulations, including the acquisition of necessary business licenses, insurance, and special use permits.

Glamping operator Stan Beck, who launched the project with just one tent, is adding another. Currently, these two tents are the only officially sanctioned glamping options within the park.

Jordanelle State Park has introduced several partnerships, in which visitors can enjoy sailing and paddleboarding classes. According to a KCPW report, Jason Whittaker, the park manager, explains that each permit application is reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

“We thought it might be nice to give it a try, really just to offer the experience to people that may not have the equipment to come. Get them exposed to outdoor recreation, and hopefully, we get them addicted to it, you know?” Whittaker said.

Each tent is placed on a carpeted platform, equipped with solar lighting, and priced starting at $200 per night for up to four guests—a contrast to the park service, which starts at $40 per night. Located at the McHenry campground on the western bank of the reservoir, the tents also offer spectacular views.

According to the March 2024 edition of the MC Hospitality Highlights report, such partnerships are increasingly crucial. With a staggering 87% of guests interested in trying new accommodation types, there is untapped potential for campgrounds to collaborate with local businesses and introduce guests to different accommodation options.

The survey detailed that 24% of RVers are curious about glamping or cabin camping, while 26% of tent campers and 57% of current glampers are keen to explore other glamping formats. This approach serves as a valuable example for glamping, campground, and RV park owners. By adopting similar collaborations, campground operators and glamping owners can diversify their accommodation offerings.
