The Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO) recently held a two-day webinar aimed at providing essential training for certified pool operators (CPOs). The training saw participation from 23 park operators, with 22 successfully passing the CPO exam.

Terry Munoz conducted the online class, which took place from May 21 to May 22. It included 10 hours of instruction and culminated in a certification exam.

Kenna Lucas, co-owner and operator of El Campo Lost Lagoon RV Resort in El Campo, Texas, emphasized the convenience and cost-saving benefits of the online format. “It was convenient and economical not having to arrange travel, and employees were able to spend more time at work during our busy season,” Lucas said in a press release.

Lucas noted that taking the class at the resort enabled employees to immediately apply their new knowledge to the facilities and review what they learned. She mentioned that their resort requires this training every couple of years due to the addition of new water features and staff turnover.

Based in Crowley, TACO is a 52-year-old trade association representing more than 430 campgrounds, RV parks, and resorts across Texas. According to its website, the association provides services and support to its members to enhance operational efficiency and legislative awareness for campground owners in Texas.

Education is a key part of TACO’s offerings. The association hosts an annual state convention featuring educational seminars and a trade show. TACO publishes the TACO News newsletter, delivering information about the campground industry in Texas. Members also benefit from exclusive webinar training sessions focused on operations, trends, and legislation.

On the legislative front, TACO advocates for campground owners’ rights with Texas agencies and within the state legislature. The association provides campgrounds with legal assistance and necessary legal forms and documents to aid in their operations. TACO also maintains a Legal Handbook, which is regularly reviewed and updated to reflect new laws pertaining to the RV industry.

In addition to these services, TACO produces a Spring conference featuring educational classes and the largest industry tradeshow in the Southwest.
