San Antonio Parks Reopen for Easter Camping After 2 Years

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, San Antonio families can rejoice as the camping traditions at city parks resume this Easter weekend.

On April 11, San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department officials announced that the park’s curfew would be lifted at select parks during Easter. The curfew is temporarily lifted starting 11 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, and returning on Easter Sunday, April 17.

“We’re excited to bring back this San Antonio Easter tradition after being on hold during the last two years. Families, friends, and neighbors can enjoy spending time together again, outdoors, in our city’s beautiful green spaces,” said Homer Garcia III, Director of Parks and Recreation in a statement.

“We encourage visitors to do their part to ensure our parks remain clean by disposing of litter and recyclables properly. Whatever you pack into the park, please remember to pack it out.”

Only some San Antonio parks will be accessible for camping. The most popular spots are open to visitors pitching their tents. It also includes Brackenridge Park, perhaps the most well-known and a tread Easter camping site.

McAllister, Roosevelt, San Pedro, O.P Schnabel, Southside Lions, Southside Lions East, and Woodlawn Lake will also be open to campers during the holiday.

The guests staying in the urban jungle can use recycling bins and trash cans. Glass containers are not permitted, and they must dump food-related waste into trash containers.

The guests are advised to exercise care when using the grills. They are also asked to remove their garbage bags from the area at the end of their stay.
