After at least four women complained that they were attacked by vicious dogs in their RV park, the owner is now under investigation, a report said.
Charles Stanley, the owner of Waco North RV Park is being sued by a woman aged 66 from Abbott. She claimed she believed she would die after six to seven large dogs attacked and killed her at the RV Park on February 4.
Vic Feazell has been hired by the two other women who were hospitalized after being attacked in July and August, to represent them in potential lawsuits. The McLennan County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into Stanley and the circumstances surrounding the attacks.
Stanley, 52, stated Tuesday that he has two Labradors, both 16-years-old, on the property. Mendy Jackson, Stanley’s ex-girlfriend and park manager used to have mixed-breed dogs but she took them with her when she left.
Stanley claimed he did not know about the lawsuit filed by Kimberly Holley on Aug. 11, which seeks more than $1 million in damages. He claimed that he owns the park for approximately a year and has only experienced one attack on his property. He spoke of an incident on July 31, when Amy Hessel (37), reported that she was attacked by “two big black things that were too mean to be dogs“.
According to reports from the sheriff’s office, Stanley speculated the victim was attacked by wild coyotes or hogs.
Stanley claimed that he knew of one attack at the park on a woman, but sheriff’s reports show that he drove Holley from the park to Waco Hospital after the February 4 incident and that Jackson and he spoke with deputies following the three other attacks. The RV park is located outside West city limits and falls under the jurisdiction of the sheriff’s department.
According to records from the sheriff’s office, one dog was taken into custody after each attack, while four were placed in quarantine following the attack on Holley. Stanley and Jackson were both cited for not having vaccinated the dogs and were given dangerous dog notices.
Stanley, who was referring to a dog, told an animal control officer that he should have “let the dog eat” Kim Chadwick (40) on Aug. 2.
Holley stated that she stopped by the RV park office at 12:30 p.m. in order to inquire about purchasing an RV. Three large dogs approached Holley and began to circle her. She stated that she was alarmed, but she “remained calm and stood still.”
According to the statement, she saw more dogs run toward her. One bit her forearm and another bit her right leg. She called for help because “the dogs were tearing me apart from every direction.”
Jackson ran up shouting, “Oh my God, Oh my God!” and telling Stanley, “Go put the dogs up,” according to the report. According to the report, Jackson treated her injuries and apologized before Stanley drove her to Waco Hospital. Stanley asked her how many dogs had attacked her while she was on her way to the hospital. She replied that she was able to count six, seven, or more.
Feazell, who was a McLennan County District Attorney and represented Chadwick and Hessel, said that “these dogs hunt together and tried to rip these people apart.”
Feazell stated that Jackson and Stanley made contradictory and false statements to sheriff’s office investigators regarding the ownership of the dogs.
Ana Ganan (54), a fourth woman from West, reported on February 24th that she was attacked on the property by three to four dogs. The property is a former Kampgrounds location, just north of West on the northbound Interstate 35 frontage.
After being told that the dogs had come from the other side, a deputy closed the case. He reported that he found paw prints in the creek bed, but no dogs were running free.
The officer stated that the victim had been treated and that there weren’t any dogs in quarantine. “This case could be closed,” he said.
