Greene County (Tennessee) welcomed a new addition to its family-friendly outdoor spaces on May 23 with the grand opening of the LazyLlama Campground.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held by the Greene County Partnership, marked the launch of this scenic destination, a place where camping enthusiasts can gather, make memories, and embrace the beauty of the countryside.
Owners Karthik Ram and Susan Calhoun spearheaded this venture, expressing their determination to provide a place where families and friends can come together and share enriching experiences. The motivation behind the project, as Ram explained, was their lifelong aspiration to create a better living environment for their children.
“Susan and I have worked hard our entire lives to get to this point,” Ram said. “We made a pact that our kids would have a better life growing up than ours, and we decided to purchase LazyLlama campground as a first step. The most attractive part of this property is the countryside along with a farm setting where we always wanted to have our family to settle down. We knew that interest in RV parks was growing so we decided to take a leap and invest in this property.”
LazyLlama isn’t just about picturesque landscapes; it’s also well-equipped with amenities designed to enhance visitors’ experiences.
Patrons can utilize the campground’s laundromat and bath house, pick fresh fruits and vegetables from the organic community garden, and let their children enjoy small outdoor play areas. Moreover, the campground hosts occasional get-togethers during weekends and holidays, fostering a sense of community among the campers.
Ram, mindful of the recent economic challenges, outlined the campground’s pricing strategy, “In order to accommodate the recent price jumps across all areas we have decided to rent our cabin, tiny home, and RV spots at an affordable price so families can enjoy the summer camping with us,” Ram said.
“We are trying our best to keep the rents much lower than any other campground near Greene County so that all people can enjoy the beauty of life at a campground.”
Conveniently located at 405 Chuckey Ruritan Road S. in Chuckey, the LazyLlama campground neighbors a working llama farm, adding a unique charm to its rural setting.
The campground operates from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends, or according to when customers check-in.
As Greene County and the owners of LazyLlama prepare for the upcoming camping season, they invite everyone to experience the tranquil beauty and community spirit this new campground has to offer.
