Sun Communities Announces Board Changes Amid Ongoing Refreshment Strategy

Sun Communities, a real estate investment trust (REIT) specializing in manufactured housing, recreational vehicle communities, and marinas, announced significant changes to its Board of Directors as part of its ongoing refreshment strategy.

According to a press release, Arthur A. Weiss, a long-serving member of the Board, has informed the company of his decision to retire on December 31. Stephanie W. Bergeron also notified the Board that she will not seek re-election at the 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders.

Additionally, Clunet R. Lewis indicated his intention to step down no later than the 2026 Annual Meeting of Shareholders.

Until their respective retirement dates, Weiss, Bergeron, and Lewis will remain actively involved in their Board roles. The Company has retained a director search firm to identify and evaluate qualified candidates for the Board as it navigates this transitional phase.

Sun Communities oversees a diverse portfolio that, as of September 30, included 659 developed properties with approximately 179,130 developed sites and 48,760 wet slips and dry storage spaces across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

According to its website, Sun Communities also specializes in the ownership, development, and operation of manufactured housing, outdoor vacation destinations, and marina properties. Since its founding in 1975 and transition to a publicly owned corporation in December 1993, the company has pursued consistent growth, expanding its footprint and diversifying its portfolio across key property management industries.

The acquisition of Park Holidays also marked a significant milestone in Sun’s expansion strategy, introducing the company to the UK market. This move positioned Sun as one of the largest holiday park operators in the region, with properties spanning Cornwall to Suffolk and extending north to Yorkshire and Scotland.
