Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of South Carolina, Big Rig Friendly RV Resort has been a favorite among RV enthusiasts.
Known for its expansive sites that offer a harmonious blend of shade and privacy, the resort has taken a giant leap in enhancing the guest experience.

The recent unveiling of their state-of-the-art clubhouse stands as a testament to their commitment to excellence.
The new clubhouse, described by co-owner Bill McLeod as “expansive,” is not just about size but about the comprehensive facilities it offers.

From laundry amenities with multiple washers and dryers to a spacious gathering room ideal for social events and rallies, the clubhouse promises a blend of convenience and luxury.
“Our new clubhouse is very large with laundry facilities including 5 washers and dryers, a large gathering room for rallies and social event,” McLeod said.
Add to that the well-equipped bathrooms, showers, check-in offices, and an RV store, and visitors have everything they need right at their fingertips. For those looking to stay fit on the move, the clubhouse also boasts a full gym.

Bill McLeod’s vision for the resort is clear. In his words, the design of the clubhouse emerged from “extensive research” aimed at understanding and catering to the unique needs of their visitors, especially those with larger RVs.
“We did extensive research and planning to make our clubhouse user friendly and designed it to meet the needs of our visitors. We specialize in accommodating the larger RVs and want our facility to be appropriate for our customers’ needs and desires,” McLeod told Modern Campground in an e-mail interview.
McLeod also highlighted that the RV store and clubhouse will make it convenient for guests to get what they need without having to leave the park.

The resort’s focus on accommodating these larger vehicles sets it apart in the competitive RV park landscape.
But the innovations don’t stop at the clubhouse. The resort is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts.
With walking trails, golf cart rentals, a dedicated dog park, frisbee golf, and a playground, there’s something for everyone. And for those who love water activities, there’s good news on the horizon. McLeod revealed plans to commence construction on a large pool, with pickleball courts also in the pipeline.
“We are starting construction on a large pool asap once permit is in place. We also plan to add pickleball courts in the near future,” he added.
For private campground owners or operators, the Big Rig Friendly RV Resort serves as a case study in innovation and guest-centric design.
The resort’s strategic location, close to major interstates and local attractions like the SC farmers market and downtown Columbia and USC coupled with its top-notch amenities, offers valuable insights. It underscores the importance of location, thoughtful design, and the right mix of amenities in driving guest satisfaction and repeat visits.
Bill McLeod also shared tips for those in the RV park business. Emphasizing the significance of the park’s location, the layout, and the size of RV sites, he highlighted the need for essential amenities tailored to the guests’ needs. But above all, he stressed the importance of excellent service backed by a dedicated staff.
The Big Rig Friendly RV Resort’s recent innovations, especially the unveiling of their new clubhouse, set a new benchmark in the RV resort industry.
It serves as an inspiration for private campground owners and RV park operators looking to elevate the guest experience and ensure long-term success in this dynamic industry.
