The RV Technical Institute (RVTI) conducted a weeklong dealer on-site training session earlier this month at Rex & Sons RV in Castle Hayne, North Carolina, resulting in six technicians earning Level 1 certification.
The training took place from March 2 through March 6 and was delivered directly at the dealership, allowing technicians to complete certification without traveling to an external facility.
According to a News and Insights report of RVIA on March 19, all six enrolled technicians successfully passed the program.
Dealer on-site training is structured to bring an RVTI instructor to a qualifying dealership location rather than requiring technicians to attend sessions at the institute’s training center. The program is available to dealerships registered as Location Subscribers or Authorized Learning Partner+ participants.
Travis Creech, operations manager and co-owner of Rex & Sons RV, said the training has already produced measurable results within the dealership’s service operations.
“RVTI’s Level 1 Dealer On-Site Training has been an excellent resource for our Service Department,” Creech said. “We are already seeing the positive impact the training has had on our technicians’ expertise. Elevating our team’s technical skills is key to fostering our dealership’s ongoing success and ensuring our customers spend more time enjoying the open road.”
RVTI emphasized the role of technician training in improving repair quality and operational efficiency across the industry.
“Proper training is critical to the long-term health of the RV industry. When technicians are well trained, repairs are done correctly the first time, which helps keep RVers on the road and enjoying the camping lifestyle,” said Justin Rickett, director of industry relations at the RV Technical Institute.
Rickett added that the on-site format is designed to reduce disruption to dealership operations by minimizing technician travel time while maintaining access to hands-on instruction.
“We were excited to bring our on-site dealer training program to Rex & Sons RV and work directly with their team to provide hands-on instruction,” Rickett said. “Programs like this allow us to meet technicians where they are, at their dealerships, making it easier for them to gain the skills they need with less time away from the shop for travel.”
