SkyLodge Adds Triple Glazing to Glass Domes for Year-Round Glamping

SkyLodge, a European manufacturer of panoramic glass domes for campgrounds, glamping sites and hotels, has added triple glazing to all models, with insulation rated at Ug 0.5 W/m²K, a level used in passive houses, to support year-round guest accommodation.

The company announced the upgrade. The glazing is intended to allow operators to accommodate guests during colder months as well as summer, according to SkyLodge.

SkyLodge offers six dome models ranging from 20 square meters (215 square feet) to 130 square meters (1,399 square feet).

The smallest model, SkyLodge 5, starts at €17,800 before tax, or approximately €83 per square foot. The company said the per-square-foot rate remains the same across its round dome models, while freight, platforms and interiors are priced according to each site.

The domes are hard-shell structures without fabric components. Their frames use a thermally broken aluminum façade system from Gutmann, while standard glazing consists of a 28-millimeter insulated unit with tempered glass on the exterior and laminated glass on the interior.

SkyLodge selects glass according to the site’s sun exposure and climate. Production takes approximately two months, followed by on-site assembly that takes three to five days.

The structures are installed on decks supported by screw piles, without concrete foundations, allowing them to be dismantled. SkyLodge said the domes are designed for a service life of more than 50 years and include a five-year warranty.

“Guests come for the sky. We built the dome so the operator can keep it: real insulated glazing, a façade-grade frame, and a structure made to last for decades,” Veronika Angelova, CEO of SkyLodge, said in a press release.

Orders outside Europe are quoted individually by destination, including freight. Model pricing is published on the company’s website.
