The RV Technical Institute (RVTI) has launched a partnership with Windish RV Center and Littleton Public Schools to offer high school students a hands-on introduction to the RV technician trade.
The program is hosted at Littleton Public Schools’ EPIC Campus, a career-focused learning center where students gain practical experience in various industries, including aerospace, health sciences, and construction trades. With this collaboration, RVTI aims to inspire interest in the RV industry and provide students with an early pathway into a high-demand career.
The partnership between RVTI and EPIC Campus emerged from a shared goal of promoting skilled trades among high school students, particularly as the RV industry continues to grow. Justin Rickett, RVTI’s senior manager of recruitment, highlighted the significance of the collaboration, noting its potential to inspire students to consider trade professions.
“This partnership exemplifies the growing importance of skilled trades education,” Rickett explained, emphasizing how the program provides students with skills and helps meet industry needs.
According to News and Insights of RVIA, Windish RV Center also expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. Whitney Holtz, the center’s president, shared her hopes for the program to give students an advantage as they prepare to enter the workforce.
“Windish RV is thrilled to partner with the EPIC Campus to bring the RVTI curriculum to high school students in Colorado,” Holtz said, noting that it’s the first time high school students are being introduced to RVTI’s Level 1 training.
Holtz emphasized that obtaining Level 1 certification during high school offers students a unique head start, potentially opening doors to a promising career path upon graduation.
The program held its first training session in June 2024. According to EPIC Campus Principal Travis Amonson, the program’s first run generated significant excitement among students and staff, who recognized its potential as a stepping stone into a skilled career.
Amonson recounted the collaborative efforts that brought the program to EPIC Campus, explaining how discussions with industry partners led to this educational venture. “This all started with a conversation between EPIC Campus and Whitney Holtz, president of Windish RV Center in Colorado, to try to fill workforce needs related to technicians,” Amonson said.
