The RV Industry Association (RVIA) revealed its February 2024 survey of manufacturers, showing an uptick in RV shipments, totaling 31,024 units for the month. This shows a 17.8% increase over the 26,326 units shipped in February 2023.
“This report marks the fourth straight month of increases as RV shipments continue to make a moderate recovery, putting us on track to meet ITR Economics’ forecast of 350,000 shipments for 2024,” RV Industry Association president & CEO Craig Kirby said in a News & Insights report of RVIA.
The increase in shipments was seen in the towable RV category, which includes conventional travel trailers. This segment saw a 24.4% rise from the previous year, with 26,984 units shipped in February. Conversely, motorhomes experienced a decline, with shipments falling 12.5% to 4,040 units compared to February 2023.
“Spring is officially upon us, and our latest survey shows over 26 million Americans plan to go RVing this spring, with over 14 million planning to make RVing part of their travels to view the upcoming total solar eclipse,” Kirby added.
In addition, the RVs have seen a 14.9% increase in shipments, with a total of 53,698 units shipped. Park Model RVs showed a decline. January figures for park model RVs revealed a decrease, with shipments down 40.1% compared to the same month in the previous year, totaling only 300 wholesale shipments.
