The RV Industry Association (RVIA) will host a webinar on December 3, at 10 a.m. ET to address recent developments regarding California’s Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) regulation.
The regulation, set to take effect in 2025, aims to reduce emissions by promoting the sale of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs). Although the rule does not directly ban motorhome sales, it will require manufacturers of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles to sell an increasing percentage of ZEVs each year.
“This has led chassis manufacturers to halt sales of traditional internal combustion engine chassis for motorhomes in California, stemming from the lack of ZEV chassis suitable for motorhomes,” the webinar announcement indicated.
The RVIA’s webinar will provide a detailed update on the regulation and the ongoing discussions between industry leaders and CARB. Mike Ochs, the RVIA director of state affairs, and Jason Rano, vice president of government affairs, will serve as presenters during the event. Attendees can expect a comprehensive overview of the regulatory landscape and its potential impact on the motorhome market.
According to its website, the RVIA, with offices in Washington, D.C. and Elkhart, Indiana, has been a trade voice for the $140 billion RV industry for over 50 years. Representing more than 500 manufacturers and suppliers of RV components and aftermarket products, the association plays a key role in shaping the industry. Collectively, these members account for 98% of all RVs manufactured in the United States and about 60% of global production.
Through its mission, the RVIA works to grow the RV market, pursue favorable business conditions, and provide a positive experience for consumers. By offering critical market research, industry insights, and promoting continuous product improvements, the association drives innovation in the RV sector.
Its efforts extend beyond the RV industry itself, as it works with lawmakers at both the federal and state levels to ensure a favorable regulatory environment that supports the industry’s growth and sustainability.
