As the United States prepares for the nation’s 250th anniversary, the RV Industry Association (RVIA) has released a new documentary on USA Today highlighting the RV industry’s history, American manufacturing, workforce and cultural impact.
The film premiered July 1 and showcases the people, companies and innovation that have shaped the industry while emphasizing the role of RV travel in enabling Americans to explore the country.
Filmed at the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Indiana, the documentary examines the industry’s heritage, domestic production and contributions to manufacturing and local economies.
It also highlights the craftsmanship and workforce behind RV production and the industry’s continued focus on innovation.
The documentary features interviews with several industry leaders, including Bob Wheeler, president and CEO of Airstream; Toby O’Rourke, president and CEO of KOA; and Chad Reece, vice president of Winnebago Industries. Each shares perspectives on the industry’s history, ongoing innovation and role in the future of outdoor recreation and travel.
The film offers viewers an inside look at the companies and people behind one of the nation’s manufacturing sectors while illustrating how RV travel allows travelers to experience the country on their own terms.
The documentary’s release coincides with growing anticipation for the America 250 celebration, which marks the 250th anniversary of the United States. The association said the film recognizes the industry’s longstanding role in American manufacturing while highlighting the products and experiences associated with RV travel.
In announcing the documentary, the association encouraged manufacturers, suppliers, dealers, campgrounds and other industry partners to help expand the film’s reach by sharing it through social media platforms, employee communications, customer newsletters and other outreach channels.
The association said the documentary is intended to spotlight the industry’s workforce, companies and manufacturing capabilities while reinforcing RVing’s place in the broader American travel experience.
