RV Industry Reports 32,162 Shipments in March

Total recreational vehicle shipments declined in March 2026 despite growth in motorhomes and park model units, according to the RV Industry Association’s (RVIA) monthly survey of manufacturers.

The association reported 32,162 RV shipments for March, a 13.9% decrease from the 37,348 units shipped in March 2025.

Year-to-date figures show a similar trend, with 86,051 units shipped through the first three months of 2026, down 12.1% from 97,848 units during the same period last year.

The decline was driven primarily by towable RVs, which account for the majority of the market. Towable shipments, led by conventional travel trailers, totaled 28,484 units in March, representing a 16.2% drop compared to the same month in 2025.

In contrast, motorhome shipments posted a year-over-year increase. The segment recorded 3,678 units in March, up 9.3% from the prior year, indicating continued demand in that category despite broader market contraction.

Park Model RVs also saw notable growth. Wholesale shipments in that segment reached 489 units for the month, a 33.6% increase compared to March 2025.

The RVIA, which conducts the monthly survey, represents more than 500 manufacturers and suppliers. The organization stated that its members produce 98% of all RVs manufactured in the United States and approximately 60% of RVs produced worldwide.

Headquartered in the Washington, D.C., area and Elkhart, Indiana, the association serves as the trade voice of the $140 billion RV industry. Its activities include monitoring manufacturing standards, tracking industry trends, working with federal and state policymakers, and supporting workforce development through technician training programs.

RVIA works to unite the recreational vehicle sector as a single voice, facilitating industry connections designed to drive business growth.

The association also conducts unannounced inspections of member RV manufacturing plants to monitor compliance with industry-approved standards and ensure consistent quality across production facilities.

In addition, the association tracks RV industry trends and consumer behavior, while working with federal and state lawmakers and regulators to support a favorable business environment.
