Dragonfly Energy Holdings Corp. is partnering with Sphere Energy to integrate artificial intelligence into its next-generation battery management systems, with the companies targeting greater accuracy in battery state-of-charge and state-of-health data.
The partnership will combine Dragonfly Energy’s data from hundreds of thousands of deployed battery packs with Sphere Energy’s battery-specific AI technology, which is based on its VETTA platform.
The integration will expand Dragonfly IntelLigence beyond battery connectivity and system visibility to include an AI-driven intelligence layer across future products and integrated power systems.
Sphere Energy’s proprietary battery AI models will be incorporated into Dragonfly Energy’s next-generation battery management system architecture.
Dragonfly Energy said it will be the first battery pack manufacturer to place Sphere Energy’s AI-powered state-of-health technology at the core of its BMS architecture.
The integration is intended to improve the accuracy of state-of-charge and state-of-health information while providing a more flexible development platform.
The architecture is designed to help Dragonfly Energy respond more quickly to customer needs and shorten the feedback loop between field performance and product development.
“Our established product lines, long-standing customer relationships and years of field performance have created a powerful data advantage,” said Dr. Denis Phares, chief executive officer of Dragonfly Energy.
“By combining that data advantage with Sphere Energy’s battery-specific AI models, we expect to evolve Dragonfly IntelLigence into a platform capable of delivering more precise, actionable insights across the applications we serve,” Phares added.
Luca Scherrer, co-founder and managing director of Sphere Energy, said Dragonfly Energy’s deployed battery base, vertically integrated capabilities and relationships with OEM customers provide a foundation for applying battery-specific AI across real-world applications.
For fleet operators, OEMs and other commercial customers, the improved battery intelligence is intended to provide greater visibility into battery condition and lifecycle performance.
The partnership also will use Dragonfly Energy’s field data to support product development. The companies said the approach is intended to help refine existing products and accelerate development of future battery technologies and solutions.
Dr. Lukas Lutz, a director of Dragonfly Energy, is also a co-founder of Sphere Energy.
