The RV industry marked Women’s Equality Day with a gathering at the  RV Technical Institute (RVTI) in Indiana, celebrating the progress made towards gender equality.

Organized by the RV Women’s Alliance and sponsored by Camping World, the event honored the certification of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote, and attracted participants from across the RV industry, including members of the RV Industry Association (RVIA), RVTI, and RV Dealers Association.

According to a News & Insights report of RVIA, Mary Pouliot, chair of the RVTI and founding board member of the RV Women’s Alliance, spoke about the significance of the celebration. “Today, we gather to celebrate Women’s Equality Day—a day to recognize how far we’ve come and how much further we must go in the fight for gender equality. This day commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote,” Pouliot said.

Pouliot highlighted the achievements of women in various sectors, including those who have pursued technical training within the RV industry. “Women are also thriving in roles once reserved for men in construction, law enforcement, and politics. Look at the number of females that have gone through RVTI training. It is really amazing and paves the way for many more women to do the same. Females are breaking down stereotypes, wielding tools with the same expertise as their male counterparts,” she added.

The event also featured remarks from other industry leaders, including Denise Chariya, chair of the RV Women’s Alliance, and Curt Hemmeler, executive director of the RVTI. Tracy Anglemeyer, a Trailblazer Award winner and member of Thetford, addressed attendees, reinforcing the industry’s commitment to supporting women in RV manufacturing, sales, and technical services.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees enjoyed food trucks, refreshments, and networking opportunities. Tours of the RVTI also offered insights into RV technology and repair, showcasing the skills and knowledge required in this sector.
