RMS Partners With SUNY Niagara to Integrate Hospitality Technology Training Into Degree Program

RMS has partnered with SUNY Niagara’s Hospitality Management Program to provide students with hands-on training using property management technology as part of their degree coursework, expanding practical learning opportunities for future hospitality professionals.

Under the partnership, students enrolled at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute, a division of SUNY Niagara, will use the RMS platform throughout their Hospitality Management degree.

The technology will be incorporated into instruction covering key hotel operations, including reservations, front desk management, housekeeping, sales, revenue management and reporting.

The collaboration comes as SUNY Niagara continues to reshape its Hospitality Management Program with a stronger emphasis on experiential learning and technology-based instruction.

According to the announcement, the redesigned curriculum aims to give students direct exposure to systems commonly used in hospitality operations while developing both front-line and back-office competencies.

Students participating in dedicated Hotel Operations courses will gain practical experience intended to prepare them for employment upon graduation. The program is designed to help students develop workforce-ready skills through real-world applications of hospitality technology.

The partnership also expands learning opportunities beyond traditional hotel operations. Because RMS serves businesses across multiple hospitality sectors, students will be introduced to outdoor hospitality management, providing exposure to additional segments of the industry and potential career paths.

According to a press release, Adam Seskis, CEO of RMS, said hospitality businesses increasingly rely on technology to manage operations and guest services.

“Hospitality is advancing quickly, and the next generation of talent needs to understand the technology at the center of modern operations. A property management system is the operational heart of any hospitality business, so early exposure to these systems is crucial,” Seskis said.

“By giving students hands-on experience with real-world hospitality technology, SUNY Niagara is helping develop confident, tech-ready professionals with the practical skills today’s employers need. We’re proud to support that mission and help students enter the workforce ready to contribute from day one,” he added.

Daniel DiPirro, hospitality management professor at SUNY Niagara, said the institution’s curriculum emphasizes experiential learning and has been developed in consultation with regional hospitality employers.

“We are excited to partner with RMS to provide our students with industry-leading hospitality technology. Based at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute, our program prioritizes experiential learning, complementing our student-run restaurant, Savor, and bake shop, La Patisserie,” DiPirro said.

He added that discussions with hotel partners have consistently highlighted demand for graduates who require minimal onboarding.

DiPirro said support from the Statler Foundation Grant and the partnership with RMS will help provide students with hands-on training designed to prepare them for immediate entry into the workforce.

With RMS integrated into the curriculum, SUNY Niagara is strengthening efforts to equip graduates with practical skills, technology experience and industry knowledge needed in modern hospitality operations.
