The RV Industry Association (RVIA) Governance Committee has commenced preparations for the 2024 Board of Directors election, a pivotal event for the RV industry. This year, the election will be held in September, with the results announced at the end of the month. The newly elected board members will begin their three-year terms on January 1, 2025.
The election will see three Board seats up for grabs: two representing RV manufacturers and one from the supplier sector. These new members will join a diverse and experienced group of leaders who will help steer the Association’s strategic direction.
The 2025 Board of Directors will consist of five standing directors from the largest RV manufacturers and suppliers, ten elected directors from various segments of the industry, up to two appointed directors, and the Immediate Past Chair.
The nomination process for the election is democratic and inclusive. According to the RV Industry Association Bylaws, nominations can come from incumbents, candidates recruited by the Governance Committee, or directly from the membership, as per the News & Insights report of the RVIA.
Members who wish to nominate a candidate must submit their nominations in writing, with signatures from representatives of at least three additional member companies, by 5:00 pm EDT on July 15.
Candidates for the Board must meet specific criteria to qualify. They need to be engaged in an active managerial role within a voting class member company in good standing, meaning all association dues and assessments are paid up to date. Persons employed by associate, manufacturer’s representative, or honorary member entities are not eligible to run.
The Board of Directors holds the highest authority within the RV Industry Association, responsible for setting and overseeing strategies and policies on various critical issues. These include industry standards, marketing, government affairs, industry education, statistical data, and financial management.
The Board’s decisions have a far-reaching impact on the RV industry, influencing everything from manufacturing and supply chains to consumer experiences and regulatory compliance.
The RV Industry Association Bylaws state that the Board comprises ten elected directors from different industry segments: five RV manufacturers, one park model RV manufacturer, and four suppliers.
This structure ensures a balanced representation of interests across the industry. The Board meets at least three times a year, with additional conference calls as necessary, to address ongoing and emerging issues.
Participation in the nomination process is crucial for maintaining the high standards and dynamic leadership that characterize the RV Industry Association.
Members are encouraged to submit their nominations to Bob Schmitt, RV Industry Association Vice President & General Counsel, at [email protected] by the specified deadline.
